Title: Avatar
Starring: Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez
Release Year: 2009
Similar: District 9

The other night, I saw Avatar in 3D.

Now, I'm not going to ejaculate some modern movie aficionado styled review, praising James Cameron for setting a new standard in movie making and offering to fellate him for going above and beyond everyone's expectations. I will simply say that Avatar is a good movie, but not life changing. If you get the chance to see it in 3D, then go for it, as it is quite an experience. However, don't go in hoping to have your world warped by a story so great that it defies description. Leave your expectations at the door and enjoy it for what it is: a visual effect buffet sided with an average storyline.

Also, at 162 minutes, expect your arse to fall asleep.

I saw this in 3D a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't too bad, just freakin long. They really should have split the movie into two parts. There is just a spot in the film where things feel completely rushed and boring.

Again this is another movie that's been so hyped that you expect so much. Also the 3D was good but there is still a long way to go with the technology. The Toy Story Movie 3D preview before the movie showed the true capabilities of a 3D movie. I just felt they tacked on the 3D to boost ticket sales, don't get me wrong tho it was still a good experience to see a movie on the big screen in 3D.

I do laugh how the tickets cost more more and they charge you a 5$ deposit to use their used 3D glasses, all I can say is I sure hope they sterilize them after each use.

But yeah I agree with Ryanator

I saw this on the weekend and i must say, it was pretty damn good. I won't go as far as saying 'Movie of the year' or 'Best movie i've ever seen', but is definately worth a look. The visual effects were awesome, but, agreeing with the masses, the storyline left much to be desired. The thing that really made this movie stand out, for me, was that somebody could actually come up with all the 'out of this world' shit. Like who would imagine linking up to animals and plants with tiny fibre-optic strands which protrude from a giant pony tail of hair, crazy.

Avatar is definately best seen in cinemas (unless you have a giant TV with surround sound). Although the story-line may not blow your mind, the whole world you experience will, it is in all honesty unlike anything before it (except maybe Fern Gully, but that's another story). Also, I think the duration was good. The 3 hours were needed to tell the story, if it was any shorter too much would be missed and it probably would make less sense.

Im going to give it a 5.

Got this movie on Blu Ray on weekend, i'm about half way through and I am enjoying it a lot more not in 3D and being able to relax in my own comfy chair.

Awesome Blu Ray to watch on big tv and surround, definitely best blu ray i've seen so far.
